Happy 2019 everybody! I’m nearly a month late but I’ve kind of been in hibernation since the last post of my 10/12 days of Christmas posts. I had a really great holidays, spent time with my family, my bae and my pals, ate lots of yummy food, and I was so so spoiled with love and gifts. I haven’t been as active on social media since Christmas, I’ve just been so caught up on enjoying the time I get to spend with the ones I love and appreciating the holiday season. BUT now I’m back and ready to bring some new and fun content to my blog.
To kick off the New Year I thought I’d recap 2018 and my 2018 bucket list, the things I accomplished and what was not, and also start my 2019 bucket list/resolutions.
2018 wasn’t a bad year for me. I know based on social media that doesn’t seem to be everyones overall consensus, but I can say that compared to previous years, 2018 didn’t completely suck. I overcame a lot in relation to my mental illness, I have become more open in talking about it and accepting help from those close to me. I have had my down spirals but I can say happily that the last few months the good days have definitely outweighed the bad. I had a lot of greats firsts with my boyfriend, we had our first Valentine’s Day, our first anniversary, our first road trips together etc. I celebrated my second year working at Sephora with all my favourite people. I gained amazing new friends but also had to deal with letting go of toxic friendships as well. I completed a 100 days of happiness challenge in the beginning of the year that was lots of fun and really helped me go out a do more fun things. All in all, this year I really tried to better myself and push myself (gently) outside my comfort zone.
I made my 2018 bucket list about a year ago, some things I did manage to complete, others not even close. I did get my first tattoo (and then 5 more after that) most of them were done by Jessica Fredericka (@bespoke_poke) a local artist who does hand pushed tattoos. I got my first tattoos done on February 22nd, I got a rose tattoo on my arm and then a semicolon on my wrist on the same day. Shortly after, I got the outline of a heart on my collarbone, the constellation Cassiopeia on my ribs, a wave (arguably) on the back of my arm above my elbow and then parallel to that one I got two roses with the stems crossed for my granddad who passed away in January of last year.
I went on multiple road trips this year, mostly with my boyfriend. We went out to Lewisporte to visit my grandma and my pop a few times, we went to Grand-Falls Winsor for a wedding, and we went to Clarkes Beach then did the Baccalieu Trail drive for a little “baycation”. We had lots of fun (even though he likes hog the aux cord to play his music), took lots of pictures and made so many memories together.
I also did end up going on a trip to Florida with my family. We went to my grandma’s house in Haines City for vacation on August. It was a great way to unwind, even though the heat was sweltering everyday we were there. We went to Universal Studios so I could finally go back to wizarding world (that also crossed ‘going to an amusement park’ off my list), and spent a few nights in Orlando as well.
I supported more local businesses through my holiday giveaway as well as some other posts promoting my favourite local entrepreneurs. I also managed to reach VIB Rouge at Sephora again… (no surprise there). I learned a little bit more sign language but I’m definitely not fluent yet. And I spent as much time I could with the people who mean the absolute most to me.
So that was everything I completed off my 2018 bucket list, here is my bucket list/ resolutions for 2019!
- Be more creative (write more, take more pictures, maybe finally get started on my poetry compilation)
- Learn at least 5 new songs on guitar
- Adopt a doggo (it’ll eventually happen)
- Read at least 6 books for leisure
- Travel somewhere new
- Be more spontaneous and outgoing
- Learn how to skate
- Take better care of myself
- Start saying yes more
- Be better with my money!!
- Go on a road trip
- See as many concerts as I can
- Worry less
- Learn how to ride a bike
- Be more active
My hope for 2019 is that I can keep being the best friend, daughter, sister, girlfriend etc. that I know I can be and to keep growing as a person. I want my 2019 to be full of experiences that are worth remembering and learning from.
What’s in your 2019 bucket list or what are your resolutions for this year?
Sorry for the choppiness but I just had so many thoughts to try and cram into one post.
